🏔️ Altitude & Tickets Pre-trip Prep

Altitude Warning: The scenic area is 2000-3100m, but Huanglong is 3100-3900m. Walk slowly, don't drink alcohol, and buy an oxygen can (¥20 at the gate).
Tickets: 100% real-name online booking 5-7 days in advance on the "Abazhou Tourism" (阿坝旅游网) WeChat account. Gate tickets ¥190 + shuttle bus ¥90 (must buy).

🥩 Fake Yak Meat & Expensive Noodles

Avoid "Tibetan restaurants" right at the gate—they use normal beef instead of yak and charge ¥150+.
Inside the valley, the only restaurant is Nuorilang (诺日朗). The buffet is ¥60-128 and queues are long. Smartest move: bring your own snacks and use the free hot water.

Tibetan Eats & Local Rescues

Yak meat & wild mushrooms
  • Authentic Tibetan Food Skip the gate. Go to Zhangzha Town or Pengfeng Village.
    👉 Real Places: Zangyage (藏雅阁 - locals' choice, real yak, ¥60-80), Niu Hao (牛耗 - Yak bone hotpot, ¥100), Lao Ma Jia (老马家 - cheap & huge portions, ¥60-70).
  • Wild Mushroom Chicken (川西农家菜) Try Heye Zangjia (荷叶藏家火塘) for real wild mushrooms (¥80-120).
  • Jiuzhai Night Market (九寨夜市) Zhangzha Town. 2026 new hotspot. Zhuoma Market for yak skewers and butter tea.

The Y-Shaped Valley Route

Rize, Zechawa & Shuzheng
  • Jiuzhaigou Valley (九寨沟) Enter at 07:30 AM (first batch). Take the bus all the way to the top of Rize Valley, then walk down.
    👉 Route: Rize Valley (Arrow Bamboo → Panda Lake → Five Flower Lake → Pearl Shoal) → Nuorilang Lunch → Zechawa (Long Lake → Five Color Pond) → Shuzheng Valley (Rhinoceros Lake → Tiger Lake).
  • Huanglong (黄龙风景区) 1.5 hours away. Ticket ¥170. BUY THE CABLE CAR UP (¥80) to save energy. It's the easiest place to get altitude sickness.

Tibetan Culture & Shows

Ancient villages & night stars
  • Zhongcha Valley (中查沟) 15 mins from the gate. The "backyard of Jiuzhaigou". Free entry. Horses, Thangka painting, and one of the best dark sky reserves in China for stargazing.
  • Jiuzhai Eternal Love (九寨千古情) or Zang Mi (藏谜) Two top-tier cultural shows. Eternal Love (¥280+), Zang Mi (¥200-300, directed by Yang Liping).

Your stomach rescue
  • Huamei Resort Area (华美胜地) 10 mins from the gate. Hard Rock Cafe (burgers/steaks, ¥150-250), Meihui Korean BBQ (¥100-150).
  • Coffee with a View No.7 Coffee (7号咖啡) at Huamei Resort. ¥20-35. Great mountain views.
  • Ritz-Carlton Afternoon Tea Rissai Valley. Tibetan pastries + Tibetan tea. ¥150-300.
