🎫 The "No Ticket on Arrival" Rule

100% online real-name reservation is mandatory. There are no ticket windows at the gate anymore.
Do not trust scalpers at the train station. Download the "Zhangjiajie Yi Ji You" (张家界一机游) WeChat mini-program. Your physical passport is your ticket (face scan required).

🚠 The "Big Ticket" Trap

The National Forest Park entrance ticket (¥239) does NOT include cable cars, elevators, or the mini-train.
Budget an extra ¥200-300 for internal transport (Bailong Elevator, Tianzi Cableway, etc.). Also, the Glass Bridge and the Glass Walkway are in entirely different locations!

  • Sanxiaguo (土家三下锅) The ultimate local dry pot. Cured meat, pork intestine, and pork head.
    👉 Ordering Hack: Must be ordered as a "dry pot" (干锅), not soup. Go to Master Hu (胡师傅三下锅) or Yin Man Dou.
  • Lao Wu Fish Head (老武鱼头) At Sanjiaoping. Fresh mountain spring fish head soup. Mild and delicious.
  • Night Markets Go to Nanmenkou Night Market (most local) or Xibu Street (in Wulingyuan). Try Sugar Oil Baba (糖油粑粑) and Rice Tofu (米豆腐).

Avatar Mountains & Cliff Walks

The core icons
  • Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (森林公园) Ticket ¥239, valid for 4 days (includes eco-bus).
    👉 Route: Enter East Gate (Wulingyuan) → Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie (Avatar Hallelujah Mountain) → Tianzi Mountain Cableway down. Stay in Wulingyuan for 2 days.
  • Tianmen Mountain (天门山) Ticket ¥275 (Peak) / ¥225 (Off-peak). Valid for 1 day.
    👉 Warning: There are NO VIP fast passes. Only lines A/B/C. Book 3-7 days ahead for morning slots. The 999 steps are harsh on knees—use the escalators.

Dayong Ancient City & Shows

Night tours & culture
  • Dayong Ancient City (大庸古城) Free entry. Night cruise on Lishui River, iron-flower fireworks (打铁花), and intangible heritage parades. Best after 18:00.
  • Qishier Qilou (七十二奇楼) Cyberpunk night architecture. Night ticket ~¥48. Great for photos and AI-guided tours.
  • Charming Xiangxi (魅力湘西) or Tianmen Fox Fairy (天门狐仙) Two top-tier cultural shows. Charming Xiangxi (¥238+) is indoor/grand. Fox Fairy (¥158+) is an outdoor real-scenery musical.
